We are a diverse, multi-cultural group of people who love God.
Our temporary worship home is at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Sugar Land.
Saint Paul is a diverse — and, we think, unique — congregation of Africans and longtime locals. You’ll see the diversity in worship styles and music.
Our traditional choir (with organ) might sing an old hymn, followed by a song by our African choir Calabash, often in their native language. You’ll hear contemporary praise music, too. But Saint Paul is a church where you can be yourself. That’s what “come as you are” means to us. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, what clothes you wear, where you live and work, or where you might be (or might not be) on your spiritual journey. God takes each of us “as is,” and then we help each other grow to become everything God intended us to be. You’ll find:

We believe that our faith teaches and inspires us to serve others. At Saint Paul, we accomplish this through:
Throughout the year, several special services enhance the worship experience. The annual African Thanksgiving Celebration Day, usually the Sunday before Thanksgiving, is led by Calabash. Conducted in a traditional African style with African songs, the service is a special time for everyone to donate canned foods or fresh produce to the needy while celebrating God’s gifts in our own lives. A small feast of African snacks and finger foods follows the service. The Saturday before Palm Sunday is usually the annual Shout To The Lord concert, also let by the Calabash choir. Everyone is invited.
As stewards of what we have been given,
we believe that joyously and generously giving back to God is an act of worship.

The best part of life as a Christ follower is learning, growing and becoming what God wants you to be. That’s why Christian teaching is important at Saint Paul, with programs for children and youth, Sunday morning classes for children and adults, and small “life” groups that meet in homes. Adult classes on Sunday morning start at 9:30 a.m. Throughout the year, we periodically offer other short courses in Christian education, too. Children’s classes are held at 11:30 a.m. during the worship service, after the time for young disciples. There’s also a resource center with books, videos and all kinds of materials for both adults and children.

Sunday School isn’t the only educational opportunity for kids here. Saint Paul Early Childhood Ministries serves children ages 6weeks to pre-k on weekdays, located at our Mary Bates location. The program began in 1964 as a Mother’s Day Out program and was licensed for daycare and extended day in 1987. Contact us at 713-772-1819 or at stpaulecm@yahoo.com.
“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” – 2 Timothy 1:7
World Communion Sunday marks a time for people of many faiths throughout the world to celebrate communion as one people. Because of Saint Paul’s rich cultural heritage, people at Saint Paul also wear colorful clothing from their native lands as they join together in worship, and some scripture is read in many different languages from around the world.
